Let’s get the idea.

Here’s how it works

Use millions, thousands and ones groups to handle very large numbers.

What we’re exploring

  • reading and writing numbers into the millions
  • what each digit is worth up to ten million
  • comparing and ordering million-sized numbers

Each group has three places, even when some are zero.

LET’S WORK ONE OUT TOGETHER

A little example

Write six million, forty thousand and nine.

  1. 1

    Six million is 6,000,000.

  2. 2

Forty thousand is 40,000; nine is 9.

  3. 3

    Together they make 6,040,009.

Make a little room for your workings.
NOW IT’S YOUR TURN

Have a little go.

Four questions. Plenty of thinking space.
Use paper, then add photos of your workings.

Your pace. Your way. ↘

When should we tell you if your answers are right?

You can’t change an answer or its photos after you submit it. You also can’t change when you see your results once you start.
