Do you carry out the assessments yourselves?
No, and you'd be right to be wary of anyone vague about this. Every assessment is carried out by regulated UK clinicians through assessment providers we trust. Who can be assessed?
Children, teenagers and adults. Most families come to us about a child, and many parents recognise themselves along the way; adults are welcome to enquire for themselves.
Do I need a GP referral?
It depends on the route. NHS and Right to Choose assessments usually start with a GP referral; many private routes don't need one. We explain what your options actually involve on the call, including what each needs from you.
How much does an assessment cost?
It depends on the route and the provider. Right to Choose is NHS-funded; private assessment costs vary. We set out the realistic costs of each option clearly before anything is arranged, so there are no surprises.
Do we need a diagnosis to get support or start an EHCP?
No. You can start an EHCP needs assessment request without a formal diagnosis, and every Remarkable Minds session, programme and tutoring hour works without one. Support starts when you need it, not when the system catches up.
Will the assessment definitely end in a diagnosis?
No, and nobody trustworthy will promise you one. A good assessment tells you what is and isn't going on, which is valuable either way. Whatever the outcome, we help you understand it and plan the right support.
