Price and location
What tutoring costs, and where it happens
£80 for a one-hour lesson, at home or online
That is the whole price: no registration fee, no minimum number of lessons, no subscription. You book one lesson at a time and decide after each one whether to book another. The 20-minute call before you book is free; we use it to talk about your child's needs, preferred lesson times and tutor availability. For context, specialist SEN tutoring agencies typically charge £90 to £120 an hour.
If your child has an EHCP, an EOTAS package or personal budget can sometimes fund tutoring. We can help you understand what your local authority will consider.
At your home. Tell us your postcode when you enquire. We'll be honest straight away if we don't have the right tutor near you yet, rather than matching you with whoever happens to be closest. Home visits depend on your area and the times you need.
Online. Anywhere in the UK, at the same £80 a session. Some children prefer it: their own room, a camera angle they control, chat instead of voice when talking is hard. Tell us if online would suit your family.
At the tutor's address. Some tutors also teach from their own home. We agree the location with you before you pay.

Before you enquire
Is this the right help for your child?
This is for you if…
- Your child needs one-to-one help with maths, English, reading, spelling, handwriting, science or getting homework done.
- You want a tutor who has taught children with similar needs before and will adapt how they teach, not just what they teach.
- You would rather book one lesson at a time and decide as you go than commit to a term.
- You are in the UK. Home visits depend on your postcode; online lessons work anywhere.
This isn't the right service if…
- You need an assessment or a diagnosis. Our tutors teach; they do not assess. Talk to a SEND specialist instead →
- You need help with an EHCP, a school dispute or a tribunal rather than lessons. See our EHCP support →
- You want a full-time alternative to school. We provide tutoring hours, including inside EOTAS packages; we are not a school. Read about home education tutoring →
About us
Who you are dealing with
Remarkable Minds connects UK families with vetted SEND specialists and tutors. Our tutors are independent professionals, not our employees; we check their identity, Enhanced DBS certificate, right to work, qualifications and safeguarding agreement before they can take a booking, and you see the proposed tutor's profile before you pay. Every message between you and a tutor goes through the platform. If you have a question before you enquire, email us at hello@remarkableminds.app, read about us, or see how we vet tutors.
Every tutor passes six checks before meeting your child.
We verify identity, background checks, qualifications and safeguarding agreements before a tutor can take bookings.

Common questions
What happens on the 20-minute call?
We discuss your child's age, learning needs, subjects and interests, plus your location and preferred lesson times. We then check tutor availability. The call is free and does not commit you to paid lessons.
How are tutors vetted?
We check identity, Enhanced DBS, right to work, qualifications and safeguarding agreements. Each profile is reviewed before the tutor can take bookings. We also consider their experience of your child's learning needs when matching.
How much does tutoring cost?
£80 for a one-hour lesson, including the first lesson, whether it is online or at your home. That is the whole price: no registration fee, no subscription and no minimum number of lessons. You book one lesson at a time and pay for each before it happens. The 20-minute call before you book is free. For context, specialist SEN tutoring agencies typically charge £90 to £120 an hour.
Where do lessons take place?
Tell us your postcode and whether you prefer home visits or online lessons. Some tutors also teach at their own address. We'll confirm the available options and agree the location with you before you pay.
What if the tutor isn't the right fit?
Contact us and we'll look for another tutor. You can decide after each lesson whether to book again. There is no minimum number of lessons.
Can you help at my child's age and learning stage?
Tell us your child's age, school year and the work they need help with. We check the proposed tutor's experience against those needs and tell you honestly whether we can offer a suitable match. Lessons start from what your child can manage, including earlier skills they need to revisit.
What happens after the first lesson?
The tutor writes you a short note on what they worked on, which is yours to share with the class teacher or SENCo. You then decide whether to book another lesson. There is no minimum and no pressure.
My child has an EHCP. Does that change anything?
Share the parts that matter and the tutor can work towards the outcomes in it. If you want to fund lessons through an EOTAS package or personal budget, we can help you understand what your local authority will consider. We do not need to see the plan to start.
