The research behind it
This programme is informed by the research behind the New Forest Parenting Programme, a parent-delivered ADHD intervention tested in randomised controlled trials. It is also informed by NICE guidance on ADHD, NG87, which recommends parent-training-first support for younger children.
How we'll know it worked
You will compare your session 1 baseline with your results in session 6, looking for parent confidence to have risen and scaffolds to be in place at home and school. You keep the before-and-after comparison in a written summary.
- Your confidence, rated 1 to 10 across 6 areas at the start and again at the end.
- Two or three goals in your own words, scored 0 to 10 at the start, midway and at the end.
- A count of strategies actually in place by session 6, such as a visual timetable at home and agreed school adjustments.
Is this for me?
Your child has an ADHD diagnosis or assessment report, but it is full of jargon and nobody has explained what it means day to day.
The follow-up support never materialised, and you want to work through the report with someone who understands ADHD.
Homework and getting out of the door have become a cycle of reminders, nagging and battles.
You want ideas that fit how your child's mind works, while you attend the sessions and your child carries on with their week.
You want scaffolds at home and clear school adjustments you can ask to have agreed and recorded.
You want to prepare sensible questions for the prescriber without anyone pushing you towards or away from medication.
Just want one 45-minute conversation first? Talk to an ADHD consultant fits better.

Common questions
What if it does not work?
There are no guaranteed outcomes. In the final session, you and your consultant look plainly at what changed and what did not. If the original understanding was not quite right, they offer a different programme or specialist. If more time is needed, they offer a discounted top-up block. If the need is clinical, you receive a written summary for your GP or CAMHS. You will not be left with a shrug.
Who attends, and are the sessions online?
You attend all six sessions online. Your child never attends, and the same ADHD consultant works with you throughout.
Is this programme about medication?
No. Medication decisions belong to your child's prescriber, and we never advise on medication directly. In session 2, your consultant helps you build a clear list of questions to take to that appointment.
Is this therapy or a clinical service?
No. This is specialist guidance for parents, not diagnosis or treatment. Session 1 includes a screen for anything that needs support from your GP, the NHS or CAMHS, so it can be routed to the right clinical service rather than missed.
Why does 6 sessions take 8 weeks?
Weeks 5 and 7 are deliberate practice weeks with no session. You use them to try the games and scaffolds at home, have the school conversation and let changes bed in, with a message check-in from your consultant.
