The assessment had been hanging over us for weeks. An hour with their specialist and it stopped being this scary document and became a useful map of what my son needs. Genuinely don't know why the people who write these can't explain them like she did.
Plain English, patient, and a written summary I could forward straight to my partner who couldn't make the call. Job done, though I had to rebook once when work overran and the next slot was a week or so out.
The specialist knew her stuff and was friendly. For me it cleared up the report well but I'd hoped for more on the actual next steps for appealing to tribunal, which is a bit outside what this is for I think. She was upfront that it's report-decoding not legal advice, so that's on me for expecting more. Still useful.
I cried with relief halfway through, partly because so much of the report had sounded so bleak and she helped me see my daughter's strengths in there too, not just the deficits.
Was handed a dense report at the end of a rushed meeting with no explanation. This filled that gap completely. Knew my son's profile and my next three moves by the end of the hour.
The bit that mattered most was being told what to do NEXT. Not just what the report said, but the practical steps, who to email, what to request, what timescales applied. That's the part nobody else gives you.
