The research behind it
This programme is informed by the research behind Organisational Skills Training, tested in randomised controlled trials by Abikoff and colleagues, and by homework-intervention research for ADHD. These studies tested organisation as a trainable set of skills, taught through practical systems rather than rewards or nagging.
How we'll know it worked
In session 1, we record a baseline, then re-measure it in the final session so you can see both side by side. You keep a written summary showing whether homework is being handed in, equipment remembered and your teen is running their own system.
- A 30-second weekly diary of homework completion percentage and forgotten-equipment incidents.
- Your teen's own weekly rating of how well their system is working.
- Two or three goals set jointly with your teen, scored from 0 to 10 at the start, midpoint and end. A move of 3 or more points is the standard CAMHS benchmark for meaningful change.
Is this for me?
The work gets done but never handed in, or deadlines appear the night before.
The school portal is full of missing assignments and nobody can agree what happened.
You are the alarm clock, bag-packer and deadline-tracker, and every reminder risks a row.
You want your teen, coached directly from around 11, to own the system by their teen-led session.
Your bright teen's grades or confidence are slipping because organising the work is harder than doing it.
You want support now, whether they have an ADHD diagnosis or are still awaiting assessment.

Common questions
Who attends, and are sessions online or in person?
You and your teen join together in week 1, from around age 11. Most teen sessions are preferably in person so the coach can see the real bag, desk, planner and phone, though online can work for older teens who engage well on video. The week 7 session is parent only and runs online.
What if it does not work?
No outcome is guaranteed, and the final session will say plainly if the goals have not been met. We will route you to a different programme or specialist if the original formulation was wrong, offer a discounted top-up block if more time is needed, or provide a written GP or CAMHS referral summary if the need is clinical.
What if my teen will not engage?
Goals are set jointly with your teen, in their own words, and the flexible session focuses on something they care about, from revision to money and phones. By week 8, they lead the session and make their own tweaks to the system.
Does my teen need an ADHD diagnosis?
No, families awaiting assessment are welcome. This is specialist guidance for families, not diagnosis or treatment, and the session 1 screen routes anything needing clinical input to the GP, NHS or CAMHS.
Why are there 8 sessions over 10 weeks?
Weeks 5 and 9 are deliberate practice weeks with message check-ins. Your teen needs time to run the system without the coach in the room before it can become their own.
