Sceptical going in, won over by the end. She didn't promise the school would cave, she just made sure I knew what I was entitled to ask for and how to keep asking calmly. It worked.
Genuinely good and I felt prepared. The follow-up notes took a couple of days longer than I expected, but they were thorough when they arrived.
Booked it on a Sunday because that's the only quiet hour I get. Felt listened to without a shred of judgement about how behind I was on all this.
Plain English advice, no jargon thrown at me, and I left knowing exactly what an annual review is for. First time it's felt like a conversation rather than an ambush.
Our specialist was a former SENCO and basically translated the school's likely excuses for me in advance. Forewarned is forearmed.
Good preparation and I felt much more confident. I'd have liked a slightly longer session as we spent a while on background before getting to the actual asks. Would still recommend.

Common questions
Can we do this the day before the meeting?
Often, yes — evening and weekend slots are available and many parents book a day or two ahead. Book as early as you can if your meeting is at a fixed date so you get the slot you want.
Is one session enough?
For one meeting, almost always. The 45 minutes gives room to go through paperwork, plan a strategy, and agree the three or four things worth raising. If meetings keep coming, a block keeps the same specialist alongside you.
