The approach
How a tutor who gets autistic learnersactually works
Not the classroom, transplanted to your kitchen. Four principles run through every hour.
Same tutor, same shape, no surprises
The session has a visible structure your child can see and trust: what's first, what's next, when it ends. Change, when it comes, is flagged in advance, because surprise costs autistic learners energy that should go on learning.
Their interests are the way in
Trains, Minecraft, marine biology, a specific dinosaur: deep interests aren't a distraction from learning, they're the door to it. Fractions taught through the thing your child already loves stop being a fight.
Pressure down, autonomy up
No forced eye contact, no insisting they sit still, no surprise questions fired across the table. Tutors offer choices instead of instructions where they can, because a child who feels in control can actually think.
Home is the venue for a reason
Your house, their room, the lighting and sounds they already regulate around. Movement breaks and stim-friendly sessions are normal here, not something to be negotiated with a school.
Said plainly
We don't assess or diagnose. We teach.
An autism diagnosis comes from a clinician, and we'll never blur that line. Our tutors teach in ways that suit autistic learners, with or without the paperwork, and if you already have a report we'll help you actually use it.
Pick and mix
What the hours can cover
School subjects are one option, not the default. Social communication, independence and getting back into learning count just as much. Change the mix any time.
How SEND tutoring works

Tell us what you'd like the hours to do
A short, friendly enquiry: your child, your postcode, and what you'd like the hours to cover. We check we can serve your area and hand-pick a vetted, Enhanced-DBS SEND tutor who actually fits. And we're honest if we don't have the right person near you yet.

Your tutor comes to you
One hour, one-to-one, at your home. Sessions are booked around family life: after school, weekends, school holidays. No centre, no travel, no waiting room, just your child at their own kitchen table with someone who gets them.

You hear how it went, every visit
After each hour you get the honest picture: what they worked on, what landed, and what's coming next. And because it's pick and mix, you can change what the hours cover whenever your child needs something different.
Tell us about your child
Your postcode, your child's age, and what helps and what doesn't. We'll hand-pick a tutor who fits, and say honestly if we don't have the right person near you yet.

Common questions
Do you assess or diagnose autism?
No. Diagnosis comes from a paediatrician, psychiatrist or psychologist through an autism assessment, and we'll never blur that line. Our tutors teach in ways that suit autistic learners, diagnosed, waiting or self-identified. If you already have a report, an £80 'Understand a report' session turns its jargon into a plan.
We're still on the assessment waiting list. Can we start?
Yes. The teaching that helps doesn't need a diagnosis to begin, and the wait is often years. Tell us what you're seeing at home and school; tutors work from how your child actually learns, not from what the paperwork says.
My child is demand-avoidant. Will this work?
Many of our tutors work with PDA profiles and know that direct instruction backfires. Sessions lean on choice, collaboration and your child's interests rather than demands. Be upfront about it in your enquiry and we'll match accordingly; our PDA support page explains our wider approach.
What if my child won't engage with a stranger?
Slowly is fine. First sessions are often mostly about the tutor becoming a safe, predictable person: playing the game, hearing about the interest, asking nothing hard. A rushed start costs more than it saves, and there's no minimum number of hours to lock you in.
Can sessions happen online?
Yes, £60 an hour. Some autistic children actually prefer online: their own room, camera angles they control, chat instead of voice when talking is hard. Others need the in-person presence. You know your child; we'll follow your lead.
How much does it cost?
£80 an hour at your home, £60 an hour online, and that's the whole price: no registration fee, no minimum hours, no subscription. If your child has an EHCP or is out of school, an EOTAS package or personal budget can sometimes fund tutoring; we can help you understand what your LA will consider.
